Step 1Double half hitch knots are used for tying several working cords onto a single ‘filler’ cord. In this example we are using the left most cord as the filler cord and working from left to right. To create a diagonal line of knots, start by positioning the filler cord diagonally across the front of all the other ‘working’ cords as shown.
Step 2Take the cord directly to the right of the filler cord and loop it up and over the top of the filler cord.
Step 3Bring it back down behind the filler cord and through the loop that has been created.
Step 4Pull tight and position it as required at the top of the filler cord.
Step 5To complete the double half hitch, repeat this process again with the same working cord. Loop it up and over the top of the filler cord.
Step 6Bring it back down behind the filler cord and through the loop that has been created.
Step 7Pull tight and position it up nice and close to the first knot. Your first working cord should now be nice and securely attached to the filler cord.
Step 8Take the next working cord to the right and follow steps 2-7 to create another double half hitch knot, attaching it snuggly in place on the filler cord.
Step 9Continue in this way using each working cord to the right and making sure the filler cord stays in a nice diagonal formation until you reach the end. You will now see a nice diagonal line of knots!
Step 10Double half hitch knots can also be tied horizontally. This time we are working from right to left and the filler cord will be held horizontally. Use the same process as before to tie double half hitch knots along the filler cord until you reach the end.
