Step 1Print the provided template or draw your own space shapes onto a piece of paper. Lay the template flat on the desk in front of you then lay a heat resistant silicone mat over the top. You will be able to see the designs through the clear mat.
: If you don’t have a silicone mat, you can also use baking paper as an alternative!
Step 2Turn on your glue gun and allow to heat up. Adult supervision is recommended when using a glue gun. Carefully use the glue gun directly onto the mat to create your shapes using glue. Trace around the template outlines and then completely fill in the shapes. Any smaller details on the shape will be added in later when you paint your designs.
Step 3As your designs dry, you may notice some gaps in your designs. Sometimes these add to the look of the design itself (like the surface of the planets!), but you can fill any large gaps with more glue as needed. Once you are happy with your designs, allow the glue to dry then carefully peel the shapes off the heat resistant mat.
Step 4Paint your designs with acrylic paints, using the finer details on the templates as a guide. Due to the shiny surface of the glue, you may need to apply a few coats of paint. Allow to dry between coats. You can also add a touch of sparkle by sprinkling glitter over the wet paint as you go. Allow the designs to dry completely.
Step 5Once your designs are dry, add a magnet to the back. Remove the backing paper and press the adhesive side of the magnet strip to the back of your design. You may need to trim the magnet strip if it is too big for your design.
For a stronger bond, we recommend using the glue gun to add glue to the adhesive side of the magnet before gluing. Allow to dry.
Step 6Your Glue Gun Space Magnets are now ready to pop on your fridge!
