Step 1Download and print out the templates provided. Use the templates to cut out the pieces from coloured felt. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Think about colours that go together well or the favourite colours of the person you are going to gift the caddy to. You might even want to use their favourite football team’s colours!
Step 2Decide on a message for your caddy and collect the letters you need from the alphabet pony beads. You could use one of our ‘punny’ messages as inspiration or come up with your own. Lay the beads in place on top of one of the circles until you are happy with the position.
Step 3Thread a needle with your chosen colour of embroidery thread. Push the needle through from the back of the felt at the position of the first word in your message. Thread the letters of the first word on before pushing the needle back down through the felt at the end of the word. Repeat this process until your message has been sewn in place. Tie a knot at the back and trim any excess thread.
Step 4Take the second felt circle – we will now cut some slits to hold the golf tees. Fold approximately 1.5cm of one edge of the circle over. Cut two small slits into the folded edge, approximately 1.5cm away from each other as shown.
Step 5Fold the same edge over further and cut two more slits, keeping them in line with the first lot. Repeat this process until you get to the other side of the circle. The number of slits will depend on how much room you have, and how many tees you would like it to hold. Slide a tee into each of the slots to make sure the slits have been cut long enough and adjust if needed.
Step 6Take the rectangle felt piece and fold it over a carabiner clip as shown. This will be the hanger. Place the ends of the folded felt piece between the felt circles, making sure your message is facing outwards.
Step 7Starting at the top, begin to sew a blanket stitch all the way around the edge of the two circles. When you get back around to the top on the other side, sew a single straight stitch through the circles and hanger to hold it all in place. Tie a knot and trim away any excess thread.
