Crazy Felt Beards

Step 1Sketch out your beard design on a piece of scrap paper. Do you want it Long? Short? Round? Square? Curly moustache? It’s totally up to you! We have drawn 4 different beard & moustache designs.
Step 2Choose a piece of coloured felt and hold it against your face with the short edge resting right under your nose. Use a pen to mark on the felt where your mouth is so you know where to cut a mouth hole. You may need assistance to do this.
Step 3Holding the felt in the same position, wrap it around the sides of your face. If it goes past your ears, mark in where your ears are.
Step 4Lay the felt flat in front of you. Now you can see where your mouth and ears will sit, it’s time to sketch the beard that you designed in Step 1 onto the felt. We chose to use a different colour felt for the moustache, so at this point we only sketched out the main beard shape. Use scissors to cut out the beard and your mouth hole. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 5Take a second piece of felt in a contrasting colour. lay it over the beard shape so its top edge is sitting just above the top edge of the beard. Sketch in the moustache part of your design, taking note of where your mouth hole is below so as not to cover it. Use scissors to cut out the moustache.
Step 6Glue the moustache to the beard using tacky glue. Allow to dry.
Step 7Decorate your beard using glitter glue or by gluing on sequins. Allow to dry.
Step 8Use a hole punch to create a hole on each side of your beard.
Step 9Cut a piece of elastic long enough to go around your head and tie onto the beard. Thread one end through one of the holes and tie a double knot to secure. Tie the other end through the other hole.
Step 10Your beard is now ready to wear! Simply slide it over your head and keep it hooked over your ears.
