Step 1Download and print the templates provided onto regular copy paper. Place a sheet of shrink film shiny side down over the design that you wish to make for your pick. Trace around the template and colour in using coloured pencils.
Step 2Cut around your shrink film design. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. For best results, leave a small border around the design and cut smooth, curved edges to prevent sharp edges once your design is baked.
Step 3Follow the instructions in the shrink film pack to bake your design. Adult supervision is recommended when using an oven. Allow your pick to cool completely before handling.
We only baked our pick for approximately 45 to 90 seconds rather than the time period suggested in the instructions. Once it had shrunk and flattened, we took it out and allowed it to cool. We recommend watching your picks in the oven to ensure they do not overbake. This ensures a shiny face on the pick and no heat bubbles inside.
Step 4Decorate your match box using coloured pencils, adding any extra details in with a permanent pen. You may also wish to use one of the templates provided to decorate the front panel. Simply decorate, cut out and glue on the front, then allow to dry. Assemble the match box.
Step 5Use the ‘Pick Prop’ template on page 2 of the templates to cut out a piece of white cardboard. Use the template as a guide to help you valley fold to create a small rectangular prism, bringing the short ends together to overlap. Glue the ends together and allow to dry. You will use this to prop up the pick in the match box. Glue the pick prop in the middle of the match box as shown and allow to dry. Add a small piece of Blu Tack on top of the prop and push your pick onto it to hold it in place.
Step 6Slide the inside of the match box into the cover and your Guitar Pick Gift is now ready to give to someone special!
