Step 1Cut a piece of candlewick a little longer than the height of your jar. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Attach your candlewick to the bottom of your jar using Blu-Tack (you can use candlewick holders if you have them!). Balance a skewer on top of your jar. Secure in place with Blu-Tack on the sides of the jar. Wrap your wick around the skewer to hold it in place.
Step 2Fill a paper cup with soy wax.
Step 3Place your wax into a microwave on a low heat for a short amount of time. Mix with a popstick. Do not allow the wax to smoke. The wax will be very hot, be careful not to burn yourself. Adult assistance and supervision is required.
Your wax will reduce in size approximately 20% once melted. Experiment with the quantity of wax you use to create different size candles.
Step 5We coloured our candle by adding some shaved paraffin wax crayon. Experiment with quantity and colours.
Step 6Carefully pour your wax into your jar. Adult assistance and supervision is required
Step 7Leave to set for 24 hours. Once set trim your wick to the desired length.
You could also set a candle in a paper cup. Once dry, tear the cup from your candle and place on a dish.
