Step 1Download and print the template provided. We recommend printing onto cardboard as this will be sturdy for the construction of your card. Decorate the template pieces with markers or pencils. You don’t need to decorate the small rectangle pieces along the bottom – these will be hidden once the card is complete.
Step 2Carefully cut out the template pieces, making sure you cut out the middle of the frame piece too! Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 3Take the large rectangle card piece and fold in half along the dotted line.
Step 4Take one of the small rectangle pieces and bring the short edges together, folding it in half then in half again. Wrap it with tape to hold it together. Repeat this with another four of the small rectangle pieces. Take the last small rectangle piece and fold in the same way as the others, but do not wrap in tape yet! Fold this piece in half again, this time in the opposite direction to create a smaller almost square shape. Wrap in tape to secure. You will now have five rectangle shapes and one smaller almost square shape. These will act as props in your card construction.
Step 5Use glue to attach the five rectangle props around the outside edge of the light grey frame on the front of the card as shown. Allow to dry.
Step 6Add glue to the top of the five props and place the frame piece on top as shown. Press down on the frame where the props are underneath to secure. Allow to dry.
Step 7Slide the ‘PULL’ tab piece into the frame as shown, making sure the ‘PULL’ side is sticking out the end. The props will help guide the piece in and hold it in place.
Step 8Use glue to attach the smaller prop in place on top of the sliding tab as shown. Allow to dry. Add glue to the top of the prop and attach the pencil piece. Allow to dry.
Step 9You will now be able to pull the tab, sliding it in and out to reveal the message underneath.
Step 10Complete the card by writing a special message inside for your teacher. Your World Teachers’ Day Card is now ready to gift!
