Step 1Print out the template provided onto A3 Cardboard. This will provide a great surface for decorating as well as giving you a sturdy letterbox.
For an alternative way of creating your letterbox you could simply print the template onto A3 paper, cut the pieces out and use them as templates on the bright coloured cardboard instead.
Step 2Decorate your template as you wish and then cut out the pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. We have decorated our template using watercolours and a permanent pen. Once you have cut the pieces out, be sure to decorate the opposite side of the flag piece.
Step 3Take the largest piece and place it face down on the desk with the white side facing up. Using the dotted lines on the decorated side as guides, fold in either end of the piece. Fold in the small tabs around the edge of the top arched flap and fold it over at the dotted line.
Step 4Take the smaller piece and fold along the dotted line.
Step 5Glue the smaller piece on top of the larger piece so the long rectangles are aligned and the two arched flaps are sticking out at opposite ends.
Step 6Start to roll the large piece up and around the arch with the tabs, taping them in place as you go.
Step 7When you have rolled it all the way over, you can tuck the large end tab into the base and tape in place. You now have your letterbox shape!
Step 8Take the flag piece and use a paper fastener to attach in place at the side of your letterbox. Now when people leave you a letter they can move the flag into the upright position so you know you have mail!
Step 9Fold the front arched flap of your letterbox upwards and slightly into the letterbox to hold it shut. Your Love Letterbox is now ready for your Valentine’s Mail!
