Running Horse

Get ready for some horsing around with this papercraft activity! Watch as your Horse runs down a slope.
  • Step 1Download and print out the template provided onto cover paper. Decorate your horse using coloured pencils or markers.
  • Step 2Cut along all the dotted lines on your template piece. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. You will now have three tabs on each end of your template.
  • Step 3Mountain fold the four outer tabs to create a 90° angle. These will be your horse’s legs.
  • Step 4Valley fold the shorter middle tab then use your fingers to curl it downwards. This will be your horse’s tail.
  • Step 5Valley fold the remaining middle tab. Mountain fold at the second line and valley fold at the third line as shown. This will be your horse’s head
  • Step 6Set up a flat track for your horse with a slight incline. This can be done by placing a thick book underneath one half of another book, as shown.
  • Step 7Place your horse so it is standing at the top of the track and give it a gentle nudge on the side. If your horse falls forward, try lowering your track. Your horse’s curved feet will rock the horse side to side, making it run down the track!
