Step 1Download and print the template provided. We recommend printing onto cover paper as this will be nice and sturdy for construction.
Step 2Decorate the template using pencils, markers or paint. Allow to dry if needed.
Step 3Cut out the template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 4Take the largest rectangle template piece and bring the short ends together to create a cylinder with open ends. Add glue to the tab as indicated and press the ends together to hold in place. Allow to dry.
Step 5Repeat this process with the second rectangle template to create a smaller cylinder.
Step 6Lay one of the quokka pieces with the design facing down on the surface in front of you. Place the large cylinder so it runs vertically down the middle of the quokka’s body and the small cylinder so it runs horizontally at the top of the quokka’s head as shown. Glue in place and allow to dry.
Step 7Add glue to the front surface of the cylinders then position the second quokka piece on top, so that the cylinders are in-between. Make sure the quokka pieces are aligned and allow to dry.
Step 8Your quokka should now be able to stand up! Take the tail piece and valley fold along the dotted line. Add glue to the back of the square tab and stick in place to the large cylinder so the tail sticks out the back. Allow to dry.
Step 9Take the final template piece and bring the ends together, overlapping them to create a cone shape. Add glue to the tab and press together to hold in place. Allow to dry. This will be the quokka’s party hat!
Step 10Pop the hat in place, pushing it between the ears of the quokka and resting it on the cylinder below. Add some glue behind the quokka’s ears to keep the hat in place if needed then allow to dry.
Step 11Your Quokka Party Animal is now ready to display in celebration of the Quokka’s birthday!
