Step 1Download and print the template provided. We recommend printing onto cover paper for sturdy construction. Decorate your chosen template design using pencils, markers or paint. You may also wish to add a touch of sparkle with some glue and glitter! Make sure to tip any excess glitter back into the shaker for later use. Allow to dry if needed.
Step 2Use scissors to carefully cut out the template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 3Take the largest template piece; the one that has the nutcracker’s face on it. Bend the ends around to meet each other as shown, forming a cylinder. Add glue to the tab labelled ‘GLUE’ then overlap and press the ends together to hold the cylinder in place. Allow to dry. This will be the nutcracker’s body.
Step 4Take the two smaller rectangle templates and bend each into a cylinder in the same way. Use glue along the tab to secure. Allow to dry. These will be the nutcracker’s arms.
Step 5Add glue down the join of one of the arms. Attach it to the side of the nutcracker’s body, placing your fingers inside the body so you can press the arm firmly in place. Repeat with the second arm on the opposite side and allow to dry.
Step 6Take the final long template piece. Add glue to both ends on the tabs marked ‘GLUE’. Place the ends into the top of the nutcracker as shown, pressing the glued tabs against the inside to hold in place. Allow to dry. This will be the hanger.
Step 7Your Paper Nutcracker Ornament is now ready to hang! Make as many as you like to cover your Christmas tree or gift to your friends!
