Step 1Download and print the template provided. We recommend printing onto cover paper as this provides sturdiness when assembling your fish. Decorate your template with markers or pencils and cut along the thick outer line using scissors. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Mountain fold the template in half along the dotted line and glue the two halves together to form your fish. Allow to dry. Bend the fish in half so you can carefully cut along the thick black line in the centre of the fish, creating a slit.
Step 3Choose a coloured piece of A4 paper and make an accordion fold along the short edge. Make each fold approximately 1cm wide and continue all the way down the length of the paper. Once completely folded, cut the paper so you have a 12cm long piece and a 9cm long piece.
Step 4Take the 12cm piece of accordion folded paper and push it through the slit that you cut in the fish in step 2. Arrange it so it sits in the middle then fan the accordion fold open on either side to create the fins.
Step 5Take the 9cm piece of accordion folded paper and cut it in half so you now have 2 smaller pieces. Arrange these so one piece sits on either side of the fish’s tail, then staple in place. Fan the accordion folds open to create the tail.
Step 6. Carefully make small cuts along the top edge of the fish to create the dorsal fin. Once you have made your cuts, use your fingers to bend and shape the paper tabs so they are not all in a straight line.
Step 7Complete your fish by using a hole punch at the top of its back, as indicated by the grey circle. Cut a length of ribbon and thread it through the hole to create a hanger.
Step 8Your Fine Motor Fish is now ready to hang!
