Step 1Print out the template provided. We recommend you print onto cover paper as this provides a great surface for decorating. Cut out the square on page 1 of the template. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Fold the square diagonally in half to create a triangle. Open the fold and repeat for the other diagonal. Open the fold again.
Make sure you run your finger across your folds in each step to create strong creases, as this will make the later steps a lot easier!
Step 3You should now have an ‘X’ shaped crease in your paper. Fold each corner into the centre of that ‘X’. This will create a smaller square.
Step 4Open the square back to its original size. Valley fold the top edge of the paper down to the centre of the ‘X’, then valley fold the bottom edge up to the centre of the ‘X’. Open the folds and valley fold each side in to the middle of the ‘X’.
Step 5Hold your finger in the centre of the rectangle shape you have just created and push the middle of the left-hand side of your paper into the centre. You should have the top and bottom corners sticking up like wings. Push those paper wings down to create squares, whilst keeping your finger on the centre of the paper.
Step 6Repeat step 5 for the right-hand side.
Step 7Use your favourite craft materials to decorate the emoji faces from page 2 of your template. Allow to dry if needed.
Step 8Cut each emoji face out around the solid black circle, then cut along the solid straight lines running through the circle.
Step 9Choose which emoji face you want to see first. Glue this face onto the front of your folded paper from step 6, make sure to glue the face pieces down in the correct order. Allow to dry.
Step 10At the top of your square folded template, go to the centre and pull the triangle tabs that are sticking up down to each side. Do the same with the bottom centre tabs. You should now have another blank square. Glue your 2nd emoji face pieces here. Allow to dry.
Step 11Fold your paper back to the first emoji face. From the right side of your square folded template, pull the higher triangle tab up towards the top edge, and the lower one down towards the bottom edge. Do the same with the tabs on the left side. You should now have another blank square. Glue your 3rd emoji face here. Allow to dry.
Step 12Your Emoji Face Changer is now ready to use! Simply flip the tabs to change each section of your face!
