Step 1Cut a length of armature wire and wrap to create a circle approximately 8cm in diameter. Wrap the wire around itself to secure the circle.
Step 2Wrap your wire circle with gold tinsel chenille stems to give it sparkle.
Step 3To create a tassel, stack a few pieces of tissue paper on top of each other and cut the paper in half lengthways to create a rectangle.
Step 4Fringe the stack of paper by cutting slits up along the long edge of the tissue paper.
Step 5Roll the fringed paper up and tape the bundle together at the top to create a tassel. Repeat this process to create your second tassel.
Step 6Paint and decorate your wooden star. This will be the centrepiece of your parol so make it nice and bright! We used gold paint, silver CleverGlitz and a rhinestone which we attached with glue. Allow to dry.
Step 7Assemble your parol. Using a hot glue gun, attach the star to the inside of the circle. Attach your 2 tassels just under the base points of the star. Cut a length of metallic yarn to create a hanger for your parol and it’s ready to be hung!
