Step 1 Pinch a small piece of clay in your fingers and roll it to create a ball approximately 1cm. Gently squash the ball between your fingers, flattening it on either side to approximately 5mm thick. You should now have a flat, cylindrical shape.
Step 2 Use a plastic tool to pierce a hole directly through the centre of the shape from the flat side. Create 23 beads just like the first one. Allow to air dry completely.
Step 3 Pinch a larger piece of clay and roll it to create a ball approximately 2cm. Gently squash the ball between your fingers, flattening it on either side to approximately 8mm thick. Pinch the circle to create the bottom point of the love heart. Gently push the middle of the opposite side of the point into the centre using the plastic tool.
Step 4 Again, use a plastic tool to pierce a hole into the heart as shown. We pierced through the side and up through one of the hearts top bumps. Be as gentle as possible so as not to warp the shape of the heart. Allow to air dry completely.
Step 5 Once the beads are dry, use a small amount of paint to decorate your beads in the colours of a candy bracelet. We’ve used a ratio of approximately 3 parts white paint to 1 part colour to create nice pastel colours. You can make yours as bright as you like. Allow to dry.
Step 6 Use a permanent pen to write a message on the love heart shaped bead. We have gone with ‘Be Mine’ but you can get creative as you like.
Step 7 Cut a length of elastic that will fit comfortably around a wrist. Thread the heart bead into the middle of the elastic and then continue to add the round beads one by one evenly on each side. When all beads have been strung, take the two ends and tie a knot.
Your bracelet is now ready for your sweetheart!
