Step 1To create a Frankenstein’s Monster Mask: Paint your mask using light green paint. Allow to dry.
Step 2Sketch a zigzag line across the top of the mask to form the hairline. Draw a small line diagonally next to one eye then add smaller lines crossing over the first to create a scar. Repeat to create a scar on the opposite cheek. Paint the hair and scars using black paint. Allow to dry.
Step 3Cut out two small rectangles measuring 2 x 3cm from grey cardboard. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Glue one rectangle to each side of the mask next to the holes for the elastic. Allow to dry. Your Frankenstein’s Monster Mask is now ready for monster Halloween!
Step 4To create a Vampire Mask: Mix 3 parts white paint and 1 part purple paint to create a light purple. Paint your mask with the light purple mixture. Allow to dry.
Step 5Sketch two curved lines near the top of the mask over the eyes, forming a point in the middle to create the hairline. Draw a pointy eyebrow above each eye. Paint the eyebrows and hair using black paint and allow to dry. Your Vampire Mask is now ready for a spooktacular Halloween!
Step 6To create a Witch Mask: Mix 2 parts yellow paint, 3 parts white paint and 1 part dark green paint to create a light yellow-green colour. Paint your mask with the mixture and allow to dry.
Step 7Sketch in some eye lashes on the top outer edge of each eye. Create warts by sketching a circle, then add small lines pointing outwards. Paint the eye lashes and warts using black paint and allow to dry.
Step 8Paint some wavy lines on each side of the mask to add the Witch’s frizzy hair. You can use any colour of your choice - we have chosen to use the light purple mixture from step 4. Allow to dry.
Step 9On a sheet of black cardboard, sketch an oval about 18cm wide and 8cm high. Draw a triangle overlapping the top of the oval. Draw two curved lines next to the top of the triangle to create a bent hat tip. You can refer to our images as a guide. Cut along the outline to create the Witch’s hat. Flip the hat shape over to hide the pencil lines.
Step 10Draw a 4 x 6cm rectangle onto yellow cardboard. Add a 2 x 3cm in the centre of the first. Cut out the large rectangle, then fold it in half and make a small cut along the centre rectangle. Unfold the cardboard and continue cutting out the centre rectangle to create a buckle. Flip the buckle over to hide the pencil marks and glue to the centre of the hat. Allow to dry.
Step 11Glue the hat to the top of the mask and allow to dry. Your Witch Mask is now ready for cackling good time this Halloween!
Step 12To create a Pumpkin Mask: Mix 1 part yellow and 2 parts orange paint to create a bright orange. Paint your mask with the mixture and allow to dry.
Step 13Sketch two triangles over the eyes. Add curved lines starting from the top centre of the mask down to the bottom to create the pumpkin’s creases. Paint the triangles and lines with black paint. Allow to dry. Trace and cut out a stem for your pumpkin from green cardboard, using our image as a guide. Glue the stem to the top of the mask, covering the lines where they join in the middle. Allow to dry. Your Pumpkin Mask is now ready to wear this Halloween!
