Step 1Choose the buttons you would like to put on your bracelet. You can also create your own buttons using shrink plastic film, pencils, the template provided and some scissors. Trace the designs onto the shrink film and colour. Cut them out and use a hole punch to create the buttonholes, using the template as a guide. Follow the shrink plastic instructions to bake the designs. Adult supervision is recommended when using an oven and scissors.
Step 2Cut a 60cm length of waxed thread. Fold it in half and tie a knot towards the folded end to make a loop. Make sure the button you are going to finish the bracelet off with fits through the loop.
Step 3Start threading your buttons onto the waxed thread, placing the first button against the knot from Step 2. For buttons with two holes, thread both strands together up through one hole then back down through the other hole. For buttons with four holes, thread one strand up through one hole, then back down into the diagonally opposite hole. Thread the other strand through the remaining two holes in the same way. Space your buttons out along the thread. Buttons with four holes will stay in place, whereas buttons with two holes may need some knots to hold them depending on your chosen design and number of buttons used.
Step 4Keep adding buttons until the bracelet is your desired length or fits around your wrist.
Step 5Tie the lengths of thread together in a knot at the back of the last button and trim the excess.
Step 6Your Button Bracelet is now ready to gift or wear! To fasten the bracelet, thread the last button through the loop.
