Step 1Print and decorate the template provided using markers. We recommend printing onto cover paper as this will make for sturdy construction. Cut out each of the pieces, making sure to cut down the solid black lines of the petals on the separate poppy piece. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
Step 2Take the large circle template piece and bend in half along one of the black solid lines, pinching in the middle. Gently crease along the line leaving the outer edges uncreased. Cut along the three black lines that meet at the crease.
Step 3Open the circle back out and carefully cut along the two remaining lines where the paper was creased. There will now be eight individual cut triangles in the middle of the circle.
Step 4Flip the circle piece over so the decorated side is face down. Bend back each of the triangles, creasing along the longer grey dotted lines until all eight are facing outwards as shown.
Step 5Use the folded triangles as a guide to decorate the ring underneath the triangles.
Step 6Mountain fold the tip of a triangle along the smaller grey dotted line. Curve the triangle up and over the ring, securing the tip to the back of the ring with a small piece of tape.
Step 7Repeat step 6 to secure the remaining triangles to the back of the ring, completing the wreath shape.
Step 8Cut a 40cm length of embroidery thread. Flip the wreath over and use tape to secure one end of the thread to the bottom of the wreath. Pull the thread up to the top of the wreath and loop the excess thread over to form a hanger. Secure this in place using tape.
Step 9Arrange the large poppy piece in the centre of the wreath under the thread. Slip the thread through two opposite slits of the petals that you cut in step 1, then fix in place with a piece of tape. Take a small piece of tape and fold it into a loop so it is sticky on all sides. Place it in the middle of the large poppy over the thread, then press the remaining half poppy piece on top of it to hide the thread. Bend the petals upwards to give the poppy a 3D look.
Step 10Your Folded Paper Commemoration Wreath is now ready to display! Hang in your window or on your door.
