Termite Anatomy

Learn about the basic structure of a termite. Decorate and label the diagram as you learn about these creepy crawlies!

This activity is perfect to accompany the book Tamarra: A Story of Termites on Gurindji Country written by Violet Wadrill, Topsy Dodd Ngarnjal, Leah Leaman, Cecelia Edwards, Cassandra Algy, Felicity Meakins, Briony Barr and Gregory Crocetti, published by Hardie Grant.

  • Step 1Download and print out the Termite Anatomy template provided. We recommend printing on cover paper as this provides a nice surface for decorating.
  • Step 2Decorate the termite using pencils or markers.
  • Step 3Label the diagram using the anatomy labels at the bottom of the template. You can write your answers on the lines provided or cut out the rectangles and glue them in the right place. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Allow to dry if needed.
  • CleverTip: The answers are (from top to bottom): Antennae, Mandibles, Head, Thorax, Legs and Abdomen.
  • Step 4Your Termite Anatomy Diagram is now ready to display!
