Book Week Costume: Pug Headband

This headband is an adorable idea for a simple costume. Simply dress in some brown and black clothing, pop on the headband and presto! You’re a puppy dog!

This activity is perfect to use in conjunction with the book 'Pig the Pug' by Aaron Blabey and published by Scholastic Press.

  • Step 1Cut a strip of brown felt 5cm wide and long enough to cover the length of your headband.
  • Step 2Using the hot glue gun, attach the piece of felt to your head band, gluing the edges onto the underside of the band.
  • You may need an adult to help with using the hot glue gun.
  • Step 4Paint 2 decofoam balls with brown paint. Allow to dry.
  • Step 5To create your pug’s eyes, attach the 2 decofoam balls to the top of your headband.
  • Step 6Create 2 pug ears using the black and brown felt. Attach with glue. Look to our design for inspiration or create your own!
  • Step 7Attach each ear to either side of your headband. Attach the wiggle eyes onto the decofoam balls. Attach with glue. Allow to dry.
