These activities are great for the classroom at the beginning of term!

Children starting school will enjoy colouring and tracing the letters of the alphabet with our Tracing Desk Strips. Laminate each one so that the children can use them repeatedly throughout the year! Or why not practice your handwriting with our FREE dotted thirds template. As we all know - practice makes perfect!

  • Step 1Print out the Tracing Desk Strips and Dotted Thirds templates by clicking the ‘Download Activity template’ button above.
  • Step 2Colour in your Tracing Desk Strips with bright colours. If you want to use these repeatedly through the year, don’t trace the letters just yet - once laminated you can trace over and over again. Don't forget to write your name in the space provided!
  • Step 3Cut out your Tracing Desk Strip. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 4Laminate your Tracing Desk Strip so it lasts the entire year! Use Blu-Tack to attach to your desk. Now you can practice writing the alphabet by tracing the dotted letters!
  • Step 5Take your Dotted Thirds Handwriting template and use the top line as a guide to indicate where the baseline, ascenders and descenders of each letter should sit. Fill the template with the alphabet, numbers or full sentences!
