World Snake Day - Paper Chain Snake

Did you know there are over 3,500 snake species that exist across the world? Celebrate these fascinating reptiles on World Snake Day on the 16th of July by making our Paper Chain Snake!
  • Step 1Download and print the template provided. We recommend printing on cover paper as it provides a great surface for decorating.
  • Step 2Decorate the template using your favourite craft materials. We have used coloured markers and stickers, however you could also use pencils, paint or crayons. Allow to dry if needed.
  • Step 3Cut out the snake head, tail and tongue pieces from page 1 of the template. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. For the head and tail pieces, create a loop then glue the end flap down so the head and tip of the tail each extend outwards. Glue the snake tongue to the underside of the head piece. Allow to dry.
  • Step 4Cut out the snake body pieces from pages 2 and 3 of the template. Start by threading a strip through the loop on the head piece. Bend the paper into a circle and secure with glue to form the first loop in the chain.
  • Step 5Continue adding and joining loops together as you go to create the snake’s body. Finish the chain by using the last body piece to loop and secure the tail piece at the end. Allow to dry.
  • Step 6Sssssssuper job! Your Paper Chain Snake is now complete.
